KIU launches tribute rally, cleanliness drive to mark Pakistan-China ties
GILGIT, Sept 1 (Gwadar Pro) - To commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, the China Study Centre (CSC) at Karakoram International University (KIU), in collaboration with KVO and the Forest Department, organized a tribute rally and cleanliness campaign at Khunjerab Pass along the Pakistan-China border.
Students and faculty members from KIU’s Hunza Campus and Gilgit Main Campus participated in the one-day initiative, highlighting the longstanding bilateral relationship while raising awareness of environmental responsibility at one of the region’s most iconic border crossings.
The participants held the rally to mark the milestone anniversary and reaffirm the enduring bonds between the two neighbouring countries.
The accompanying cleanliness campaign sought to raise awareness about environmental protection, responsible tourism and conservation in the ecologically sensitive Khunjerab region.
Located along the Pakistan-China border, Khunjerab Pass is an important symbol of connectivity and cooperation between the two countries. The initiative brought together students, faculty members and representatives of partner organizations to combine the commemoration with practical efforts to protect the local environment.
The organizers said such initiatives provide young people with opportunities to contribute to environmental conservation while fostering people-to-people exchanges and strengthening understanding of the longstanding Pakistan-China relations.
