Picture exhibition on “War of Resistance” held in Lahore
LAHORE, Aug 23 (Gwadar Pro) - A pictorial exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was held in Lahore, organized by the Chinese Consulate General in collaboration with the Institute of International Relations and Media Research (IIRMR).
The event, hosted at a local hotel, featured 30 archival photographs that drew interest from historians, retired military officers, scholars, educationists, journalists, members of the public, and Chinese diplomats.
Acting Consul General Cao Ke inaugurated the exhibition, offering reflections on the 14-year struggle from 1931 to 1945. He underscored the leadership, sacrifices, and unity that defined the Chinese people’s resistance against Japanese aggression. “The exhibition situates China’s war within the broader international context, underscoring its role as an essential chapter of the global anti-fascist struggle,” he said.
Commenting on the display, Professor Dr. Amjad Magsi noted that it vividly illustrated how China not only resisted Japanese fascism but also made a significant contribution to the final victory and to world peace.
Speaking to Gwadar Pro, he stressed that, amid today’s complex and shifting international environment, revisiting the spirit of the anti-fascist alliance offers valuable lessons for addressing contemporary global challenges. “Preserving historical memory is increasingly vital as the number of living witnesses diminishes with time,” he added.
