DAZHOU, July 14 (Gwadar Pro)- Pakistan Under-18 hockey team made the nation proud by securing the silver medal in the 2025 U18 Asia Cup hockey tournament after a spirited campaign in Dazhou, China. The young Green Shirts showed exceptional talent and determination throughout the competition, culminating in a hard-fought final on July 13.

The event, held from July 2 to 13 in Sichuan province, features 19 men's and women's teams from 11 Asian nations and serves as a platform for the continent's brightest young hockey stars. Pakistan’s journey to the final was marked by thrilling performances, including a dramatic 4-3 penalty shootout victory over Malaysia after a 3-3 draw in regulation time. Malaysia later secured the bronze medal.

Despite narrowly missing out on gold, Pakistan’s young squad has earned widespread admiration for its skill, teamwork and fighting spirit. Captain Adeel was honored as the Rising Player of the Tournament for his outstanding leadership and performances, further highlighting Pakistan’s strong showing.

The achievement holds special significance for Pakistan, a country with a storied hockey legacy. As the national sport, hockey has brought Pakistan unparalleled glory, including a record four Hockey World Cup titles (1971, 1978, 1982, and 1994). The success of the U-18 team signals a resurgence in the sport, rekindling hopes of reclaiming its past dominance.

The Pakistani Consulate General in Chengdu provided unwavering support to the team throughout the tournament, with officials attending the final to cheer on the young athletes.
