Pakistan aims to boost meat and milk exports to Henan
ZHENGZHOU, Nov. 22 (Gwadar Pro)- “The 2nd ‘Belt and Road’ (Henan) International Agriculture Corporation Expo provides a remarkable experience. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has significantly contributed to the expansion of trade between the two nations, particularly in the agricultural products and livestock sector,” said Captain (retired) Muhammad Mahmood, Federal Secretary for National Food Security and Research, during his speech at the expo.

Muhammad Mahmood noted that the rise in exports of sesame seeds, seafood, rice, milk, and meat reflects the positive impact of this initiative. He informed the gathering that CPEC has wonderfully created employment opportunities, improved electricity supply, and enhanced regional connectivity in Pakistan.
“Agriculture and livestock are indeed a vital sector for Pakistan’s economy. Pakistan and China are working collectively on many agricultural and livestock-based projects such as breed improvement of buffalo and genetic improvement in Agri seeds,” said Mr. Mahmood and he added, “Closer cooperation between the two countries can bring even more benefits”.
Secretary Livestock Punjab, Masoud Anwar, showcased the potential of the Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab at the Henan Expo. “It’s a great opportunity to highlight the achievements and opportunities in the livestock sector of Punjab,” said Mr Anwar and he highlighted the accomplishments and potential of the livestock industry in Pakistan, aiming to attract investors and garner international interest in the country’s thriving livestock sector.

On the sideline, Pakistani officials also held a meeting with Wang Kai, the Governor of Henan province who warmly welcomed the Pakistani delegation. “The purpose of the meeting was to promote livestock trade and exports,” Mr. Masoud said in a statement and he added, “Pakistan has agreed to increase exports of meat and milk products to China”.
Mr. Masoud said that international trade will play an important role in supporting the country’s economy and Pakistan intends to export not only milk and meat but also other livestock products to China.
