LAHORE, Oct 18 (Gwadar Pro) - Anhui Guohao New Energy Special Vehicle Co. Ltd., a prominent Chinese firm, has announced plans to establish an electric vehicle (EV) assembly plant in Punjab. The company is expected to submit a comprehensive proposal detailing its plans to produce EVs. This initiative aims to address Pakistan's growing demand for sustainable transportation and reduce the nation's reliance on costly fuel imports.

In this regard, a delegation from Anhui Guohao New Energy Special Vehicle Co. Ltd. met with officials from the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) on Tuesday (October 17). During this meeting, the PBIT team provided insights on the Auto Industry Development and Export Policy (2021-26), emphasizing incentives for EVs and Punjab's investment framework. The Chinese delegation received assurances of PBIT's continued support throughout the business establishment and operational phases in Punjab. As per an official statement, the meeting concluded with a commitment from the Chinese firm to provide a detailed proposal for the next steps.

In related news, PBIT facilitated an online conference between ADM Group, China, and key Pakistani agencies, including the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA) and Engineering Development Board (EDB). The discussion centered on the procedures and licensing for initiating EV assembly plants and charging stations in Punjab. Notable attendees included Hussain Haider, Pakistan's Consul General to Shanghai; Sardar Moazzam, Managing Director of NEECA; and Mudassir Iqbal, Manager of EDB.

The CEO of PBIT provided an overview of Punjab's investment landscape, while MD NEECA introduced the Regulations of EV Charging Infrastructure 2023. In turn, ADM Group was invited to share feedback and an updated proposal to ensure a smooth collaboration.

It's worth noting that earlier in May, Huaihai Holding Company, another esteemed Chinese vehicle manufacturer, in partnership with a Pakistani entity, expressed interest in a $10 million investment to expand electric vehicle production in Punjab, focusing initially on two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
