ISLAMABAD, Dec. 12 (Gwadar Pro) - While noting the protests of fishermen in Gwadar, Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Sunday “strong action against illegal fishing by trawlers will be taken”.

The Prime Minister said he would also discuss the issue with Chief Minister Balochistan Abdul Quddus Bizenjo regarding the issue of anglers.

“I have taken notice of the very legitimate demands of the hardworking fishermen of Gwadar. Will be taking strong action against illegal fishing by trawlers and will also speak to CM Balochistan,” Prime Minister Khan said in Tweet.

A large number of fishermen have been peacefully protesting in the city of Gwadar for the past many days demanding the government to take certain actions.

Maulana Hidayat Ur Rehman, the leader of the local fishermen has welcomed the announcement of Prime Minister Imran Khan Maulana and stated in a twitter message that the provincial government has already justified their demands and some notifications have been issued, but they could not be implemented. “Your notice is welcome. I hope that now the demands will be met,” said the Maulana.

Last week in an exclusive interview, Maulana Hidayat Ur Rehman told Gwadar Pro that the protest is not against “China or China-led development and CPEC in Gwadar” and “it aims to seek rights to live a life that every Pakistani deserves”.
