Railways Minister Azam Khan Swati said on Thursday, the government would outsource its schools, colleges and hospitals under the public-private partnership and that the work in this regard had already been started.

Chairing a high level meeting at the Railway Headquarters, the minister asked the officers and staff of the department to get themselves vaccinated by 10th of August, stressing that the best response to the ongoing global pandemic was the adoption of precaution and the vaccine.

Swati defended the decision of outsourcing of trains, saying that the businesses could not continue in losses. It is not a charity, it is a business partnership and both partners should benefit from it,” he said. “You cannot do business at a loss.”

Urging the railways staff that “we have to prove ourselves as businessmen” the minister said: “We are going to outsource schools, colleges and hospitals under public-private partnership for which work has already been started.”

In order to increase the efficiency of the staff, the minister announced that rewards would be given to the workers and officers for their good work, so that their morale remained high and they continued to work harder and more diligently.

He added that those who were not working properly, needed to be placed in the surplus pool, adding that instead of being removed from the railways, they would be posted in other sections where they were deemed necessary.

Later, the minister visited the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club and received a briefing on the renovation work being undertaken there. He expressed satisfaction over the facilities provided at the club and its rehabilitation.
